Color Scientist - CG Studio
Description:
The Color Scientist is a pivotal role within CG Studio. You will work closely with department leads, supervisors, developers, and artists to define and implement color science and color management workflows that will help all image-based outputs to be consistent and support realizing creatives’ vision across stills, animation, product visualization, live-action, and real-time content.
Requirements:
- A MSc in Color Science or equivalent industry experience
- In depth knowledge of color management methodologies for VFX/CG workflows
- Knowledge of workflows for authoring and viewing of HDR content
- Expert knowledge of video codecs and formats
- Expert knowledge of industry initiatives like OpenColorIO and ACES
- Great communication skills and ability to present color pipeline concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Needs to be able to collaborate with a large number of cross-functional stakeholders across numerous teams
- Minimum of 10+ years experience

Responsibilities:
- Establish color science across capture, processing, and delivery
- Establish calibration guidelines for capture and display devices
- Lead the development of a studio-wide set of workflows for color management
- Coordinate and assist external vendors to determine the most effective color management strategy
- Author OCIO Configurations
- Coordinate with the Pipeline Team to help advise how to implement the correct color management in the various applications (Maya, Houdini, Nuke, RV)
