Job Summary
This Clearances and Licensing Specialist role performs the front-line review and clearance of Apple Immersive core creative assets. These assets would be used in support of marketing Apple Vision Pro and the related original content ecosystem. The role works cross-functionally with other internal stakeholders across Production Legal, Marketing Legal, Brand, Services, as well as an external advertising agency to track creative assets in development, consult production documentation, and provide guidance on IP, talent, and other rights issues.
Key Qualifications
- 7-10 years of relevant experience on a business affairs, or content licensing team at a creative agency, content production company, or within the entertainment industry.
- Deep subject matter expertise and practical experience negotiating rights, analyzing risk, and developing processes regarding entertainment IP licensing/clearances for marketing and advertising use.
- Ability to draw conclusions from working knowledge of issues and risks that impact the area of rights licensing, including copyright and trademark law, union/guild issues, public domain, fair use, defamation, and rights of publicity.
- Demonstrated understanding of talent likeness requirements, ties and restrictions as they pertain to film, television, and SVOD marketing.
- Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting complex licensing agreements.
- Experience presenting rights and licensing-related topics to client groups and employees.
- Extensive, up-to-date knowledge of licensing issues across above-the-line and below-the-line media.
- Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Proactive contributor who can work independently, and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated skills in core areas: concise and clear written and verbal communication, attention to detail, sound judgment, innovative approach to problem-solving.
- Expertise in building credibility, rapport, and productive relationships across functions in a large organization.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable navigating rapid change with poise and decorum in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Description
- Collaborate cross-functionally by reviewing core creative assets in development, identifying rights and compliance issues, facilitating communication between multiple stakeholders, providing strategic options to teams, and licensing content with rights holders for marketing use.
- Conduct copyright and trademark research and facilitate clearance requests.
- Advise and partner with Legal and International teams (as needed) to asses risk in terms of legal and brand concerns.
- Negotiate licenses and permissions with copyright owners of various media.
- Review all marketing legal documentation to identify any info that is unclear, missing or incorrect and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to update.
- Responsible for maintaining detailed documentation and trackers around clearances and licenses at Apple’s high standards.
- Maintain effective communication with team leads to ensure information flows properly, action items are clear, and issues are escalated at the right time to the right people.
- Contribute to the development of BA processes, procedures, and standardization that scale across a rapidly evolving business.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience required.
