Clearances & Licensing Manager - Developer Relations
Job Summary:
Clearances & Licensing Manager - Developer Relations is responsible for securing rights and clearances for third-party IPfeatured in Apple’s annual WWDC developer conference content. This includes securing rights for photography, apps,games, film and TV clips, sports content, album art, websites, and more — all integrated into Apple’s pre-produced videop resentations (such as Platforms State of the Union and Developer Sessions). You’ll collaborate closely with Marketing & Communications, Developer Relations, Legal, Production, and Product Marketing to ensure all third-party content iscleared, accurate, and compliant.
Key Qualifications:
• Minimum 10+ years relevant experience in business affairs, advertising, licensing, entertainment, law, or other content-focused industry
• Proactive and self-motivated — this is a highly independent role that requires someone who can take initiative, adaptquickly, and operate effectively without extensive oversight
• Strong knowledge of IP rights including copyright, trademark, & licensing in the area of entertainment or advertising law
• Experience with risk mitigation as it pertains to IP
• Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment managing multiple projects at once
• Proven ability to exercise sound, strategic, and executable legal & business judgement in challenging situations
• Calm approach and strong communication skills
• Natural problem solver
• Experience with clearing content for a variety of media including broadcast, streaming, and social media contentclearances
• Familiarity with Apple’s products and services a plus
Description:
• Handle and prioritize a steady stream of asset clearance requests across multiple categories and creative teams. The types of third-party content you’ll be ask to clear could include photography, apps, games, film and TV clips, sportscontent, album art, websites, and more
• Secure third-party content rights by liaising directly with rights holders across apps, games, TV and film, sports,business data, websites, and more
• Collaborate with Business Affairs, Legal, and Developer Relations to ensure content is appropriately sourced andpreviously cleared assets are reused when possible
• Partner with Legal to align on clearance strategies and usage of legal disclaimers across projects
• Provide strategic guidance and flag potential IP issues early in the creative process
• Monitor production workflows to ensure compliance with rights usage and legal policies
• Maintain accurate documentation and track the clearance status of all assets
• Support the broader Marcom and Developer Relations teams with creative problem solving around complex licensingchallengesEducation:
• BA/BS or related degree required. JD or MBA preferred.
