The Post Production Department (PPD) is a full-service post production organization comprised of the following divisions: creative editorial, grading, audio, and visual effects. Description
Video editors work across all post production divisions and act as the project’s hub working closely with all members of the post production team (post producer, asst. editor/colorist/mixer/ VFX team) and liaise with production companies, external post houses, and music/sound design houses.
Video editors have deep experience editing fast paced short form social content and have keen storytelling skills to capture the viewers attention quickly.
Responsibilities
Key day-to day responsibilities include:
- Lead editor in creative kick-off project meeting
- Visualize the creative team’s vision in the early concepting stage and continual ideation with the team throughout the edit to completion.
- On-set editing when needed
- Creative offline editing both supervised and unsupervised
- Offline music editing and temp graphics creation
- Present offline edits and participate in creative reviews
- Prep approved offline edits for finish: VFX, color, motion graphics, audio prep
- Final conform, QC and delivery of final dub list
- Server archive and project wrap
- Hours may fluctuate based on project needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience at an offline editorial house, in-house advertising agency, production company or large corporate media department.
- Collaboration and partnering skills with finishing teams, music supervisors, and creatives from ideation through to final primary file delivery.
- Experience both creatively and technically in the following fields: social and web deliverables.
- Expert in the discipline of fast paced creative editing
- Background in music timing for visuals
- Experience with versioning.
- Experience with client supervised edit sessions
- Deep understanding of the post production pipeline and disciplines: offline, online, conform, general compositing, screen replacement, picture clean up, logo & wire removal, rotoscoping, color correction, image stabilization, tracking, speed ramps, audio mixing, exporting and project archiving.
- Deep understanding of devices, frame rates, codecs, raster sizes, color spaces, file formats and cameras.
- Deep expertise in: FCPX, Compressor, Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder and Photoshop.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Video portfolio
