Description
The Video Accessibility Writer produces copy to ensure our customer-facing video marketing content is accessible to our users. The Video Accessibility Writer works closely with post-production team members, video producers, video delivery managers, and other accessibility stakeholders. The Video Accessibility Writer is an advocate and champion for accessibility in all aspects of the work.
Responsibilities
Key day-to day responsibilities include:
- Evaluate video deliverables as it relates to accessibility post production needs.
- Work with teams and external vendors to provide subtitling, closed captioning, and descriptive audio scripts for video content.
- Coordinate with video producers, web administrators, editors, and accessibility stakeholders
- Adhere to style guides, established workflows, and quality assurance procedures
- Assist with development of new training materials, workflows, and documentation
- Assist Captioning and Audio Description teams with project schedules and timelines
- Stay current with new digital audio, video, and accessibility technologies and standards
- Act as a champion of the brand and accessibility standards in all aspects of creative work
- Hours may fluctuate based on project needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience at an offline editorial house, in-house advertising agency, production company or large media department.
- Deep experience with video accessibility and post-production workflows for subtitling, closed captioning, audio descriptions, and accessibility transcripts
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Experience creatively and technically in following fields: broadcast, web, social and long form deliverables.
- Expertise in the English language, including grammar and composition
- Ability to adhere to style guides with strong attention to detail when writing and copyediting.
- Expertise in: audio/video editing software and workflows, including FCPX, Premiere, After Effects, Compressor, and Photoshop
- Working knowledge of web accessibility principles
- Ability to quickly learn and utilize new software and apps to drive team performance and efficiency
- Experience with asset tracking, versioning, file management and file transfer.
