Job Summary:
Senior Engineering Technician
This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Distributed Infrastructure Market Sector, supporting Substation (Grid) projects and building critical infrastructure for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. Electrical professionals contribute to power systems design by generating deliverables such as 3D general arrangements, sections & elevations, conduit/grounding plans, bill of materials and all corresponding details for substation projects. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Senior Electrical Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects.  Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring general knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying electrical design drawings using advanced techniques in industry standard design tools, such as Autodesk 3D Autocad, Bentley 3D Microstation, and other CAD tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor

  • Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline

  • Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions

  • Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
    Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards

  • Reviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content

  • Promotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections

  • Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency

  • Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards 

  • Manages drawing control

  • Applies engineering principles and established design practices to complex designs

  • Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required. Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred. 

  • Typically a minimum of 11 years related work experience. 

 

This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $45.44/hour - $60.59/hour
