Responsible and accountable for large-scale strategic projects within the US Animal Health Commercial Excellence division for projects that fall into the areas of:
- Sales & marketing technical systems implementation
- Data product management & strategy
- Process engineering & optimization
- Business Strategy
The incumbent in this role will foster ongoing relationships with sponsors and business leads, planning for and scoping project opportunities, advising on solutions to key business problems, and effectively managing assigned projects to ensure successful completion and sponsor satisfaction. Specific areas of focus include accountability for on time and on budget completion of selected Boehringer USAH projects by interacting across local and global functional teams. Specific accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:
General:
- Leads the identification and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines, and standards to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery.
- Defines, manages, and directs the needed end-to-end PMO work effort, which includes leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying, and tracking the realization or expected benefits defined in business cases.
- Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve project management practices to achieve higher maturity in PPM.
- Responsible and accountable for project portfolio management and alignment, and communication with the global commercial business (GCB) and IT on USAH priorities.
Leadership:
- Organize and direct project management teams that support the delivery of key strategic initiatives for the Animal Health Commercial business.
- Effectively manage stakeholders across all parts and levels of the business: engaging, leading, and managing everyone from functional SMEs to executive leadership through key bodies of work.
- Influence key business and IT stakeholders to follow established project management methodology.
- Proactively identify business problems, analyze the issues and environment, and provide recommendations.
- Responsible for the identification and delivery of project objectives and ensuring stakeholder alignment and support of these objectives.
- Identify and deploy optimal resource allocation for successful project delivery, including budget management, consulting resources, and third-party vendors.
- Identify and employ optimal leadership and problem-solving approach, based on project needs, in any Global/US/cross-species project structure.
- Recognize project teams and individuals for achievements.
- Influence stakeholders and business partners to support vision and solutions for the team.
Communication:
- Organize and lead meetings to ensure effective communication of project vision, objectives, actions, and information to enable successful project delivery.
- Create a culture of open, transparent, and timely communication across project teams.
- Communicate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups, including leveraging skills of influence and engagement to drive alignment across the US Commercial, Global Commercial Business, and IT organizations.
- Collaborate with peers to drive a shared approach for program and project leadership. Strategic Program Management:
- Work with Sr. Director, Data Practice and other PMO colleagues to develop and implement a strategic program roadmap, including identification of key projects, resource needs, and timelines for execution to meet the defined goals and priorities within the Commercial Business.
- Ensure the scope of all projects is aligned to the strategic objectives defined for the function, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Direct projects and sub-teams as needed to execute objectives.
- Identifies and communicates resource (time, staffing, money, equipment, etc.) needs across projects to ensure successful delivery and works with leadership.
- Direct changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Engage stakeholders in the development and communication of project definition, milestone development, progress, risks, issues, and achievements.
- Direct the required change management and communication across functional teams for any respective assigned project.
- Define, document, and measure the business benefit of the respective project.
- Define and report on project portfolio health metrics.
Business Subject Matter Expert:
- Work with business, global, and IT partners to develop and align strategies and key objectives. Leverage this alignment in the development of the program roadmap development and project delivery.
- Communicate commercial business strategy to the US Commercial Excellence team and work with teams to align resources to deliver key objectives.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities to advance achievement of commercial objectives.
- Work across CE teams to ensure stakeholder understanding of tools and resources available to drive successful outcomes.
Required Experience ·
- Minimum of ten (10) years progressive relevant experience and at least five (5 years) of [project] team leadership.
- Minimum of 8 years in project management, consulting, or direct customer business experience within animal health/human pharma/CPG or similar companies.
- Experience leading large data or technical software implementation initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas, facts, and technical information to senior management and other internal customers both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to work with other disciplines.
- Management consulting experience preferred.
- PMP, Agile, Scrum, or other formalized project and program management training preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources.
- Models willingness to learn and stay up-to-date.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex dependencies and guide the development of risk mitigation plans for complex projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Marketing, Finance, Computer Science, or related field
