This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy in Jackson, Michigan. This position requires onsite presence 4 days a week with remote work on Tuesday.

Job Overview:

This role within the Smart Energy Operations Center at Consumers Energy, is based onsite at the Metering Technology Center (MTC) on the Parnall Campus in Jackson, MI. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance. 

The Smart Energy Operations Center is responsible for the health and reliability of all deployed Gas and Electric smart devices. Consumers Energy currently has over 1.8M Smart Electric Meters, 660k Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Gas Communication Modules (GCM’s) and 1.2M Automated Meter Reading (AMR) GCM’s.  

The Meter Technical Analyst is responsible for correcting and maintaining device master data for both general and complex metering. The Analyst will perform daily monitoring and technical tasks designed to resolve specific issues, analyze current system and process conditions, while maintaining system integrity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Meter Technical Analyst supports the Smart Energy Operations Center by monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting smart metering systems and data. This role is responsible for understanding, processing, visualizing, and communicating smart device data using LEAN business tools to drive operational efficiency and data accuracy.

The position performs daily problem solving across system components, including reviewing meter and system performance, identifying and resolving system issues, and querying multiple systems to compare data and detect discrepancies. The analyst conducts detailed investigations, analyzes trends, and performs root cause analysis to identify and resolve system and process exceptions.

The Meter Technical Analyst collaborates with internal departments to resolve issues efficiently and implements corrective actions and process improvements to prevent recurrence. This role also provides technical support, including creation and maintenance of SAP records, upkeep of logs and spreadsheets, and other related system documentation.

Additionally, the analyst evaluates system error messages and failed workflows related to field work orders, determines root causes, and makes necessary corrections while ensuring metering device data integrity and accuracy across enterprise systems.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE

Proven analytical and diagnostics skills and ability to look for alternate solutions

Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills (time management and multi-tasking)

Experience using computer software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with internal and external clients and coordinate activities across multiple locations and departments

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Operating a headend system (e.g. MV90, OpenWay, UIQ)

Knowledge of electric and gas meter communication methods

Experience with electric and gas interval billing

Experience with SAP

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Technical with 2 years of relevant experience

[OR] Associate's Degree in Business, Technical with 4 years of relevant experience

[OR] High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)

The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $ 26.79-$35.71/hr
