Senior Manager R2R Accounting & Reporting

The Manager Reporting role in the Record to Report (R2R) Accounting and Reporting team is responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting activities for different processes across all Divisions in the US. Responsibilities would also include but not be limited to: Month-end closings, approval of Account Reconciliations, and Journal entries and support the activities of the Associate Director and Director of the area..

Works collaboratively with Divisional Financial Reporting and Accounting (FRA), Business Planning and Analysis (BPA) and other Novartis Organizations.

Major Accountabilities 
• Leadership position in the Cross divisional Accounting & Reporting team responsible issues including: select technical accounting, month-end closings, financial reporting, account reconciliations and liaison with internal and external auditors.
• Lead month end closing reporting process ensuring high quality financial statement footnote disclosures, and refines process for efficiency
• Interact proactively with functional areas in the organization, Divisional Financial Reporting and Accounting (FRA), Business Planning and Analysis (BPA) , Group Finance , P&O , Treasury and others to ensure appropriate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished.
• Complete monthly account analyses and account reconciliations
• Ensure all processes and techinical acounting summaries comply with Novartis standard policies and International Accounting Standards (IAS) (i.e. global processes, Novartis Accounting Manual, Novartis Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).
• Subject Matter Expert for ERP related systems (SAP) , ADP payroll system
• Subject Matter Expert for reporting tools (FCRS, IBI, BPC, etc.).
• Prepare or review Balance Sheet for select entities.
• Provide leadership and coaching to the senior accountants
• Support the team and business stakeholders (ad-hoc analyses and activities as needed)
• Project management capabilities to help support implementation of related system upgrade
• Participation in E2E process , controls mapping and execution of testing requirements
• Ability and experience in implementing process improvements
• Capability to streamline data preparation using advanced features of Excel and Alteryx preferred
• Provide informal managerial oversight to the senior accountants to ensure quality, adherence to controls framework and day to day issue resolution

 Customer satisfaction of service delivery & process specific KPIs
 Minimal financials impact from audit and timely execution of action plans
 Number of business special processes standardized/Deliver business benefits and productivity improvements as per target
 Savings and cost avoidance identified and implemented
 Stable services including those of outsourced operations with no control issues

High: Supports process standardization, automation, and innovation.
Ensures US R2R living up to increase Finance excellence.

Education (minimum/desirable): 

University level degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Finance or Accounting/ MBA desirable
 Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CMA, or Chartered Accountant desirable
 Lean/ Six Sigma Certified desirable

Languages: English required
 

Experience: 

5+ years of Financial experience, with in-depth functional expertise
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in accounting & reporting focused roles
- Solid depth and expertise in SAP knowledge required and strong Excel skills
- Strong process design experience with demonstrated ability to organize high volume and complexity of activities into streamlined process
- Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (GAAP), accounting and financial
reporting requirements
- Experience of managing projects driving performance (e.g. ERP implementation)
- Good people skills, leadership exposure
- Strong communications skills

Location: East Hanover, NJ Hybrid role (3 to 4 days a week)
Pay Rate: $89-$113/hr based on experience and qualifications (W2 Only)
Contract: 8 months
