Responsibilities

Principal Global Investors is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to work with our Client Experience Technology team. The product data management team is a key data enabler that powers many of the digital client capabilities we own with the other Go to Market & Client Operations areas within PGI. The product data concepts are critical components that drive client reporting, marketing material, our newly envisioned websites, sales presentations, and other client engagement channels.

Location: New York, San Francisco

This unique opportunity allows hands-on development of our business priorities today using a modern technology stacks, while also scaling our existing solutions for the future. This role is a great mix of combining programming and data in order to build and tackle strategic business solutions.

As a data engineer in this space, you will be helping to continue to build the data mart and all integrations that support these functions. This work will primarily happen within AWS, with some on-prem legacy support. Technologies include Python, Pyspark, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, and many others. This is a newly formed global team that is looking to expand its footprint in the US.

Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

• Work with business partners to understand data and needs
• Full stack development including infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipeline code and unit tests
• Support critical, ongoing operations while also building new strategic solutions
• Design, implement and maintain product datasets in alignment with marketing and client operations strategic objectives
• Expanding and optimizing data and data pipeline architecture
• Participate in pairing, mobbing and code reviews

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with:

• Bachelor's degree plus 4+ years related work experience or a Master's in related field
• 2+ years of experience working with operational and enterprise data, data lakes, or reporting data marts
• AWS Platform experience (examples include S3, Glue, Lambda, API Gateway and Step Functions) or equivalent cloud platform technologies

Additional Preferred Technical Experience

• CI/CD pipelines (We use Github actions)
• AWS Infrastructure as Code (We use AWS CDK)
• AWS Serverless Technologies (We use Lambda, Step Functions, Glue)
• Pyspark
• Investment/Financial Services Data industry experience
