Business Affairs Manager, Video Production - Level 5
Job Summary:
Marcom is Apple’s Global Marketing Communications group. We oversee Apple’s advertising and
marketing to ensure the flawless development and execution of world-class communications.
The role of the Business Affairs Manager is to partner with producers and cross-functional teams
across Marcom through all stages of production, advising on talent matters, reviewing scripts and
storyboards, identifying clearance issues, and securing third-party rights.
Description:
• Oversee all business affairs matters for complex projects from concept to wrap and maintain line
of sight into all facets of production including thinking ahead on project/clearance/legal needs and
roadblocks, understanding talent and production processes and regulatory issues.
• Apply critical thinking throughout production, advising on scripts and storyboards for initial flags
and provide creative solves; Working closely with legal to assess and mitigate risk.
• Provide full production support including reviewing bids, declaring insurance and preparing all
necessary paperwork including, casting notices, talent/celeb/influencer contracts, licenses, and
releases.
• Prepare talent and residual estimates (union and non-union) along with recommendations around
costs and how to maximize budget; Process all talent payments in a timely manner; Open POs
and process invoices; Process accounting accruals and actualizations at quarter end and job
close.
• Conduct preliminary copyright and trademark research and initiate trademark searches with legal.
• Manage clearances for third-party IP which could entail both direct negotiations with copyright
owners and/or facilitating third-party content clearances with internal asset managers.
• Collaborate with geo Business Affairs teams for cultural sensitivity concerns and localization of
assets.
• Manage database systems to track usage across multiple productions and negotiate renewals.
• Take on special projects, including complex high-visibility campaigns and new product/services
where new processes may be required to be implemented.
Key Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree
• 10+ years agency or (in-house) advertiser Business Affairs experience.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must have a high degree of professionalism with a strong focus on accuracy, attention-to-detail,
and timeliness is a must.
• Expert-level understanding and management of third-party contract negotiations.
• Extensive, up-to-date industry knowledge around talent (SAG-AFTRA//Non-Union), advertising &
regulatory guidelines.• You work independently and act as a leader within the team, advising on complex matters and
supporting colleagues and junior teammates.
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills and highly responsive to
Producers and other stakeholders.
