Finance Transformation Business Analyst

Role Purpose:

To work closely with the Finance Transformation Lead in London to ensure successful delivery of Project Cobalt, a strategic plan to reform the EU platform to make the group structure simpler, stronger, and generate sustainable growth across EMEA.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is focused on supporting the delivery of Project Cobalt during the implementation phase, with particular emphasis on Finance testing, user acceptance (UAT), and the validation and production of reporting outputs. Working closely with Finance, IT, and data teams, the role will ensure that new reporting solutions are accurate, controlled, and fit for purpose, while also supporting the transition to automated reporting.

Finance Testing & UAT Delivery

  • Support Finance user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and parallel runs across reporting and data outputs
  • Validate financial data and reporting outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business requirements
  • Identify, track, and manage defects through to resolution in collaboration with IT and data teams

Reporting & Output Validation

  • Review and validate Head Office and management reporting outputs under the new structure
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity of reporting across entities, systems, and stakeholders
  • Support Finance sign-off of reports ahead of go-live

Report Specification & Automation Support

  • Develop and refine report specifications to support the build of automated reporting solutions
  • Partner closely with IT and data teams to ensure delivery meets Finance expectations

Cutover & Go-Live Support

  • Support cutover planning, including dress rehearsals and readiness assessments
  • Provide hands-on support during go-live, including issue resolution, performance monitoring, and business continuity
  • Ensure a smooth transition from legacy to new reporting processes

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a key point of contact for Finance during testing and implementation
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution
  • Provide clear and concise updates on testing progress, risks, and readiness

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Finance Business Analyst within banking or financial services, delivering large-scale finance transformation projects.
  • Proven ability to work across the full project lifecycle, including functional specifications, and comprehensive UAT planning and execution.
  • Strong background in testing and quality assurance, including defining expected results and managing defect resolution.
  • Hands-on experience in data analysis, working with multiple data sources and leading initiatives to improve data quality and governance.

Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Strong understanding of General Ledger (GL) and Chart of Accounts (CoA) structures.
  • Solid knowledge of core accounting principles (double-entry, financial statements, adjustments) and IFRS / JGAAP standards.
  • Familiarity with financial products such as derivatives, securities, loans, and repos.
  • Experience with finance platforms such as Oracle GL/Subledger and Murex; prior exposure to MUFG systems is a strong advantage.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial and technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, sharing knowledge across regions and teams.
