Join data42, part of Novartis Biomedical Research. data42’s mission is to enable the responsible use of internal and external data through a securely governed analytics platform, supporting research, development, and medical insights that lead to new medicines for patients.

As a Real World Data (RWD) Steward, you will support the day‑to‑day execution of Real World Data governance activities within data42. You will work closely with the data42 team, data owners, and governance stakeholders to ensure RWD requests are progressed efficiently, consistently, and in line with established governance processes.

This role plays a key part in enabling smooth and reliable RWD governance operations, ensuring that requests move through the correct processes and that stakeholders are supported throughout.

Job Description

Real World Data Governance Operations

  • Support the data42 team and end users through established Real World Data governance processes
  • Act as a point of contact for RWD governance‑related queries
  • Promote & effectively communicate policies & guidelines to the Real World data community; creating a culture of ethical & compliant RWD usage
  • Ensure RWD requests are correctly routed, tracked, and progressed in a timely manner
  • Review the quality and completeness of existing RWD governance records, identifying gaps or inconsistencies and supporting remediation to improve accuracy and audit readiness

Governance Process Execution

Support the implementation and operation of governance processes across the RWD lifecycle, including:

  • Data ingestion requests
  • Data Access Management queries
  • Data export and off‑platform access requests
  • Data lisence renewals and expiry tracking
  • Data destruction requests
  • Data archiving and retention requests
  • Non‑standard or exception‑based data usage requests

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with requestors, data owners, Data42 teams, and governance stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Data Privacy, platform teams)
  • Guide stakeholders through governance requirements, documentation, and next steps
  • Follow up on required inputs and approvals to support timely decision‑making
  • Identify issues requiring escalation to ensure continuity of governance operations

Governance Forums & Meetings

  • Prepare and support Real World Data Governance Council meetings, including:
    • Agenda inputs
    • Request status summaries
    • Action and decision tracking
  • Support follow‑up of governance outcomes and actions

Documentation, Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the creation and maintenance of governance documentation, guidance, and process artefacts
  • Contribute to training materials and enablement content for end users and stakeholders
  • Identify recurring operational challenges and suggest pragmatic process improvements

Essential Requirements

  • Experience supporting operational processes in a complex, regulated, or matrixed environment
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple parallel requests
  • Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and evolving processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence and coordinate stakeholders without direct authority
  • Attention to detail and strong follow‑through

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working with data governance, research operations, or data lifecycle processes
  • Exposure to healthcare, life sciences, or Real World Data environments
  • Familiarity with governance forums, approval workflows, or compliance‑driven processes
