The US tariff Finance Process Specialist executes the data gathering under the US tariff requirements for Financial Reporting and Accounting. This role guarantees the quality and effectiveness of these processes, ensuring that systems, documentation, compliance, and reporting are in place.
Manage day-to-day activities
• Supports the execution of strategies for US tariffs project through providing all data needed for internal and external reporting (national statistics and tax information) in a timely and accurate manner.
• Supports the monthly close process and general ledger accounting activities where needed
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across-Novartis entities business colleagues, both accounting authorities/auditors and Novartis local entity/group financial reporting and accounting
• Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for related policies and processes, supports productivity objectives and continuous improvement, process changes and leading practices to have an efficient and effective process
• Ensures proper functionality and process linkages from/to other systems
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any issues that arise.
Financial Compliance and Controls
• Ensures all processes, policies and procedures are clearly defined, fully documented
• Ensure compliance with Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM), Novartis Financial Controls Manual (NFCM) and regulatory requirements; ensure all processes and procedures are defined and documented in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensure adherence of processes to this standard, perform controls, follow up on deviations, put remediations plans in place if deemed necessary
• Promote a strong and control environment, follow up on audit issues and implement correcting measures
Continuous improvements and Productivity
• Drives and monitors improvements to sustain a highly effective and efficient accounting and reporting process, and realizes cost reduction opportunities including areas to harmonize and standardize processes
Ideal Background
• University level degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Finance or senior finance experience
• Lean/ Six Sigma Certified preferred
• English (written and spoken)
• German is beneficial (written and spoken)
• Other languages are a plus
• 3+ years of financial / accounting experience, with in-depth functional expertise; experience in auditing or consultancy is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national organization
• SAP skills
• Solid communication, presentation and coordination skills, ability to effectively communicate with various people within the organization
Workload: 100% (40 hours per week)
