Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Position Notes:

  • Partial Onsite - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and as needed. Periodically Wednesday nights and Sunday nights, on-call rotation
  • The Team: Network Core Team – This team consists of the Platform owner for Network, Technology Owners for all Network Technologies, Senior Engineers/Subject Matter Expects for all Network and technicians from NH-Facilities team.  
  • The Network Core team provides tier 3 support of the Network organization, infrastructure projects, technology ownership, and communication/presentations to senior/executive management,

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the engineering of network infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations. Ensures that the design and integration of proposed solutions leads to the development and growth of the business through effective use of technology. Facilitates the optimization of business unit performance by enhancing the alignment between business systems and information technology. Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution, and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications.  Duties:  
  • 30% Provides consultative direction for network planning, architecture design and engineering. Determines feasibility from technical and economic perspective. Compiles, analyzes, and reviews operations data. Oversees and directs tests to establish standard for new designs or modifications to existing equipment, systems, or processes. 
  • 35% Oversees, plans, and evaluates complex network systems and makes recommendations for resources required to develop, maintain and/or expand services levels. Provides consultative support to facilitate design and to resolve design problems. Monitors network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future. 
  • 15% Oversees plans and ensures implementation of network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware. Anticipates and mitigates potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system. Provides strategic planning and participation for disaster recovery operations. 
  • 10% Updates knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in technology. Researches, evaluates, and recommends software and hardware products. Provides counsel and leadership on future use of technology and system improvements. 
  • 5% Directs and leads technical support personnel. Provides direction to team in the gathering of business needs and design of solutions through direct interaction with business unit leaders. Subject matter expert resource. 
  • 5% Maintains effective relationships with external suppliers to ensure appropriate levels of support. Oversees and plans large scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies. Interface with vendors to identify and purchase hardware and software. 

Skills and Abilities:  

  • Comprehensive knowledge of network systems and applications. 
  • Able to perform high-level network planning, design, and optimization. 
  • Able to suggest plans to integrate new and existing designs and provide input to highly complex and high impacting decisions. 
  • Advanced technical knowledge of networking, communications, and related hardware and software. 
  • Strong knowledge of emerging technologies for applications to the enterprise. 
  • Capable of taking on the role of project leader for special enterprise-wide assignments. 
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people. 
  • Strong understanding of technical problems and solutions in relation to the current, as well as the future business environment. 
  • High level of understanding of organizational business systems and processes as well as industry-wide requirements. 
  • Proficiency with network technologies and platforms. 

Required Education,:  Bachelor's in a job related field.  

Degree Equivalency:  4 year job related work experience or Associate's and 2 year job related work experience.  

Work Experience:  10+ years of network or other job-related experience.  

Preferred Work Experience:  12 years of experience working in infrastructure/network environments performing network engineering (hardware and/or software), design and planning.  

Preferred Licenses and Certificates:  CCIE, CCNA, CCNP

This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay someone for this position is $55.00/hour - $70.00/hour. Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K (provided minimum eligibility hours are met).
