This role is a contract assignment at Palo Alto Networks. Contractors will not be employed by Palo Alto Networks but through our trusted staffing partners.  

Palo Alto Networks is looking for a Marketing Specialist, U.S. Public Sector - Contractor to work with North America Field Marketing team and is a great opportunity for a talented individual who has the desire to associate with a fast-growing company in a truly international environment.

As a Marketing Specialist, U.S. Public Sector (Contractor) you will directly and visibly contribute to our overall success and daily operations within the North America Field Marketing team and will report to the Director of NA Field Marketing. 

Role Overview

We’re looking for a results-oriented State & Local Government and Education (SLED) Marketing Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced environment to support our marketing efforts. As part of the public sector marketing team, the successful contractor will support marketing activities targeting state government, local government, higher education, and K-12 institutions. This individual will work collaboratively across a highly matrixed environment to increase brand awareness, thought leadership, and demand generation while aligning to strategic priorities and growth objectives of the sales team, demand marketing organization, product teams, and company. This will be accomplished through executing marketing campaigns, including content development, digital marketing, digital and in-person events, and marketing communications to penetrate white space, acquire net new logos, retain and expand existing accounts across our portfolio, while positioning Palo Alto Networks as the cybersecurity leader. The Marketing Specialist is the operational backbone of the SLED marketing team, responsible for the day-to-day tactical execution of demand/pipeline generation activities across 18 U.S. sales districts. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage SLED-focused digital and in-person events from end-to-end, including planning, execution, and post-event followup.
  • 3rd-Party Conference Engagements: Manage the logistical details and work with field sales to build customer engagement at a high volume of regional SLED and national industry association events (e.g., NASCIO, EDUCAUSE, CoSN, NASTD) to create or accelerate sales opportunities.
  • Be the primary liaison between sales and the NAM Marketing Hub Team for sales-led webinars, including using Asana for ticket creation, Salesforce to create campaigns, and exchanging information and updates regarding invitation creation and registration landing pages, as well as registration lists (and post-event campaign member status updates).
  • Ensure leads from marketing activities are uploaded into Salesforce accurately and swiftly to prevent follow-up delays.
  • Provide on-site execution support for field events if needed (5% max).
  • Responsible for completing operational activities such as Salesforce campaign creation, coordinating contract review and execution, database uploads, and budget and finance processes (including POs and invoices) on a timely basis.
  • Act as a central point of contact for the SLED sales organization, fielding requests for event support from 130+ account teams.
  • Communicate upcoming activities to marketing and sales leadership and their teams at regular cadences via numerous communication channels, including presentations, emails,and Slack
  • Assist in reviewing Tableau dashboards to track ROI and campaign performance, CxO engagement, and pipeline generation.

 

Core Competencies & Experience

  • 5-7 Years Experience: Marketing experience in a high-growth B2G (or B2B) technology environment.
  • Operational excellence and exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities from a large, multi-territory sales organization Self starter and problem solver with excellent project management and execution skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with and supporting a large field sales team and associated stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (primarily Sheets, Slides, Docs, Gmail, and Drive) and Salesforce (CRM) is essential. The ability to learn new applications quickly is advantageous.
  • Fiscal literacy and ability to manage complex budgeting and procurement processes.
  • Ability to travel throughout the U.S. occasionally to support in-person events or participate in internal meetings (5%).
  • Understanding of the nuances of the state and local government and education segment(s), including buying cycles, ethics, the missions of government and education, and how marketing is done differently is preferred. 
  • Attention to detail and exemplary execution; anticipates challenges, and sharp-eyed to catch errors before projects move forward.

 

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience required.

Compensation

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location.  For candidates who receive an offer,this is the pay range that Magnit (the staffing agency) reasonably expects to pay for this position: $65/hour to $70/hour. Please note that the compensation information in this posting reflects the hourly wage only and does not include benefits.  Magnit offers Medical, Dental, Vision and 401K.
