Summary
We're seeking a high-energy, execution-obsessed PMO Lead contractor to own the Compliance Operations project portfolio end-to-end. This is not a coordination role — this is a command center role. You will be the connective tissue across a fast-moving, high-stakes Compliance organization, owning how we plan, track, communicate, and celebrate our work. You'll run the business rhythms with senior leadership, build the reporting infrastructure that gives us real-time clarity on our portfolio, and be the voice that tells our story — crisply, confidently, and compellingly — across the org.
If you thrive in ambiguity, move fast, love bringing structure to chaos, and get energy from high-visibility work in a complex fintech environment, this role is for you. This is a 100% remote role with approximately one week of on-site travel per quarter.
- Own the Compliance Operations project portfolio end-to-end — maintaining a clear, current, and prioritized view of all active initiatives across the org.
- Build and run the intake and prioritization process for all incoming work, ensuring every project is logged, assessed, and sequenced against capacity and strategic priorities.
- Design and own the operating cadences for the org: weekly portfolio reviews, quarterly planning cycles, two weekly sprint planning cycles
- Run key leadership meetings — including recurring syncs with the Senior Director and direct reports — with tight agendas, crisp pre-reads, and action-oriented follow-through.
- Partner with Finance (FP&A) to connect the project portfolio to budget planning and change management; ensure project spend is tracked, visible, and defensible.
- Build and maintain executive-ready portfolio reporting: RAG status, milestone tracking, budget variance, blockers, and upcoming risks — all in one view.
- Deliver punchy, pithy status updates to senior leadership that cut through complexity and communicate clearly. No jargon, no noise — just signal.
- Configure automated JIRA notifications and dashboards so that support functions (Analytics, Training, Quality, Content, Workforce Management) are proactively informed when their involvement is needed — without manual coordination overhead.
- Serve as the escalation point when projects are off-track, blocked, or at risk of missing commitments; drive resolution with urgency and accountability.
- Craft and distribute org-wide communications that market our wins — launches, milestones, and team achievements — in a way that builds culture and visibility across the broader organization.
- Portfolio ownership: Proven ability to manage a large, complex, multi-workstream portfolio in a fast-moving environment — prioritizing ruthlessly, tracking rigorously, and reporting clearly.
- Business rhythm design: Demonstrated experience building and running governance cadences (portfolio reviews, R&O sessions, QBRs) that senior leaders actually find valuable.
- Executive communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You write status updates that get read, run meetings that end on time, and craft org-wide comms that land.
- Stakeholder management: Track record of driving cross-functional alignment across large, matrixed organizations with multiple competing priorities and strong personalities.
- Tooling proficiency: Deep hands-on experience with JIRA (including automation and notification configuration), Confluence, Asana or equivalent portfolio tools, and GSuite.
- Budget & change management: Comfortable partnering with FP&A to connect project portfolios to financial planning, track actuals vs. plan, and flag variance early.
- High ownership & pace: You don't wait to be asked. You operate with a bias to action, thrive in ambiguity, and bring structure without slowing things down.
- Positive energy: You bring momentum and optimism to every room. People feel the difference when you're driving something.
- 5+ years of PMO or program management experience is required; must come from a high-scale tech or fintech company of comparable size and pace to Coinbase (e.g., Stripe, Block, PayPal, Robinhood, Amazon, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, or similar).
- Compliance domain experience is not required — strong PMO craft and cultural fit are the priority.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or a related field preferred.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services is a plus.
- Exposure to org-wide communications strategy — launch announcements, win recaps, executive updates — is a plus.
