Description:

Discover your opportunity with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), one of the world’s leading financial groups. Across the globe, we’re 150,000 colleagues, striving to make a difference for every client, organization, and community we serve. We stand for our values, building long-term relationships, serving society, and fostering shared and sustainable growth for a better world.

We offer services across commercial banking, trust banking, securities, credit cards, consumer finance, asset management, and leasing, providing stability and expertise in a dynamic financial landscape.

This temporary assignment will be working at MUFG, and may involve working at an MUFG site, you will however be contracted through Magnit Global, a UK registered employment business with the company registration number 05537535.

About the role:

This role sits within the second line Compliance function and will focus on Level 2 surveillance alerts and investigations across Fixed Income products, particularly bonds and OTC derivatives. You’ll be joining an established trade surveillance team, playing a key role in identifying potential market abuse and conduct risks while providing independent oversight and challenge to the Front Office.

The position involves reviewing and investigating surveillance alerts using a highly customised surveillance platform, alongside manual interrogation of trading and communications data. This is not a purely system-driven environment — you will need to dig into source data, analyse trading behaviour, and independently determine whether escalation is required. The role requires regular interaction with Front Office stakeholders, responding to audit and control queries, and contributing to improvements in surveillance parameters and controls.

Key requirements:

  • Strong trade surveillance experience within a sell-side firm/investment bank is essential
  • Solid Fixed Income product knowledge (bonds, swaps, OTC markets essential)
  • Proven experience handling and investigating surveillance alerts end-to-end
  • Good understanding of market abuse regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Experience with surveillance tools such as KX, Actimize, SMARTS, SteelEye or similar
  • Confident engaging with Front Office and Compliance stakeholders
