Sanctions Advisory Consultant (Complex Cases & Regulatory Reporting)

6 month contract, Opportunity to go temp to perm

£630 per day inside IR35

This role sits within the Sanctions Advisory team, focusing on complex case reviews, regulatory reporting, and horizon scanning. You’ll provide subject matter expertise on UK, EU, OFAC, and Japanese sanctions regimes, supporting governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making across the EMEA region. This is a technical, high-impact advisory role with exposure to senior stakeholders and regulators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret relevant sanctions regulations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and the firm’s risk appetite
  • Conduct complex customer and transaction reviews to identify exposure to sanctioned parties
  • Assess and advise on the effectiveness of sanctions control frameworks across jurisdictions
  • Draft, manage, and oversee regulatory reporting to relevant authorities (e.g., OFSI, OTSI)
  • Support license applications, regulatory requests, and the management of frozen/blocked funds
  • Monitor sanctions regulatory developments and perform horizon scanning for new or amended regimes
  • Collaborate with global and regional sanctions colleagues to ensure consistent application of standards
  • Provide timely SME advice to internal stakeholders on complex transactions, deals, or client exposures
  • Contribute to training, policy updates, and continuous improvement of sanctions advisory processes

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience within sanctions advisory or financial crime functions in banking, consulting, or regulatory environments
  • Deep understanding of UK, EU, OFAC, and Japanese sanctions regimes
  • Experience managing complex cases, regulatory reporting, and compliance frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to present complex information clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively across global, multi-jurisdictional teams
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with strong judgement and decision-making skills
