This temporary assignment will be working at MUFG, and may involve working at an MUFG site, you will however be contracted through Magnit Global, a UK registered employment business with the company registration number 05537535.

About the role:

The role will involve the creation and execution of action plans to implement key initiatives, enhance efficiency as well as close issues and remediate gaps. The role is required to help support the delivery of the new and ongoing change initiatives across the Financial Crimes portfolio. Covering Sanctions, the role involves close working relationship with the Regional and Global Financial Crimes teams. The Sanctions Programs team drives the implementation of MUFG Bank’s financial crimes risk appetite, policies and standards by managing and providing an approachable sanctions advisory hub to the EMEA region for all sanctions queries, ensuring advice is clear, informative and consistent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of sanctions-related projects and initiatives
  • Define, track, and execute action plans to implement key financial crime change initiatives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Financial Crime, Compliance, Operations, and Technology to deliver control enhancements
  • Oversee project plans, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and timelines are met
  • Identify, manage, and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies across the portfolio
  • Support action owners in developing and executing remediation and improvement plans
  • Drive consistency in reporting, providing clear and timely updates to senior stakeholders
  • Contribute to the uplift and continuous improvement of financial crime processes and controls

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Financial Crime Project Manager, Programme Manager, or Portfolio Lead within financial services, consulting, or a regulatory environment
  • Prior experience delivering Sanctions change projects is highly desired, ideally within Investment Banking or wider Financial Markets.
  • Strong understanding of financial crime frameworks, particularly sanctions within banking
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex portfolios of change initiatives and delivering strategic projects
  • Strong knowledge of risk, compliance, and control frameworks
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders across global, multi-jurisdictional environments
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver at pace
  • Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to provide clear updates to senior audiences
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to identify and drive process improvements
