Job Title: 2026 Summer Intern – Insights & Decision Science – AI & Innovation Project Manager

Job Description
The AI & Innovation team shapes the future of AI in Novartis US by defining and delivering an integrated strategy that bridges technological possibility with business need. In close collaboration with all US Commercial Functions, we provide end-to-end innovation capabilities—from concept to human-centered design, prototyping, data science, development, and partnerships. We accelerate time to value through rapid experimentation, cutting-edge reusable AI capabilities, enterprise-wide learning, and a seamless development process, routed in clear Responsible AI principles.

The Project Manager intern will support the development of AI powered products for core US commercial business functions, contributing across the lifecycle; from gathering stakeholder requirements to assisting with prototype delivery. This is a product role with technical depth, ideal for someone with an engineering or data science background who wants to transition into AI product leadership.
This internship is ideal for a student who is passionate about AI product innovation, eager to learn, and interested in the healthcare and life science industries.

What the intern will do:
• Support the product owner in defining product requirements with business stakeholders
• Help build working prototypes using AI tooling
• Facilitate scrum team rituals (e.g., sprint planning, reviews, retros)
• Contribute to designing evaluation frameworks to measure AI product success
• Prepare materials and participate in presentations to senior leadership and cross functional partners
• Learn how AI products ship in a regulated, enterprise environment

What the intern will learn:
• End to end Agile product management in a live, AI enabled capability
• Translating ambiguous business problems into buildable AI solutions
• Working with stakeholders who don't speak technical language
• Responsible AI and governance in pharma
• The "working backwards" product methodology

Minimum Requirements
• Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science. Master’s degree 
• Demonstrated interest in Generative AI (GenAI) product development, particularly in healthcare or the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., coursework, projects, research, or hackathons).
• Basic Python and SQL programming skills and familiarity with modern software development practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative mindset.
• Willingness to learn from experienced professionals and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Preferred Competencies/Experiences
• Familiarity with common AI/ML or GenAI libraries and tools (e.g., MCP, A2A, RAG, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangGraph, Vector Databases); familiarity with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and their AI/ML services.
• Understanding of basic data handling, including data cleaning, transformation, and simple analytics.
• Prior exposure to healthcare or pharmaceutical datasets, workflows, or regulations (e.g., through academic projects or internships) a plus.

Pay Rate:
Masters     $ 35.00
PharmD/PhD/MD/JD     $ 40.00
(W2 Only - based on Education and Experience)
Contract: 2-month
