Role purpose:
The Digital Workplace Engineer will play a key role in the operational delivery and ongoing evolution of the organisation’s Digital Workplace services. The role will support a modern, cloud-first, laptop first strategy, delivering secure, scalable and user-centric workplace solutions across the enterprise.
Working as an experienced member of the Digital Workplace team, you will provide technical leadership across endpoint management, identity, collaboration and security technologies. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and support of Digital Workplace solutions, whilst contributing to strategic transformation programmes and maintaining high levels of operational service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Digital Workplace Engineer focused on designing, building and maintaining enterprise Microsoft workplace solutions in a cloud-first, laptop-first environment.
- Strong focus on Microsoft Intune, managing Windows endpoints, configuration profiles, compliance policies and security baselines.
- Designs and implements Windows Autopilot for automated device provisioning and deployment.
- Engineers and supports Windows 11 Enterprise, with exposure to Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Supports Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365, covering identity, device management and workplace services.
- Strong security remit covering Conditional Access, MFA, Zero Trust, Microsoft Defender and endpoint protection.
- Provides technical leadership on Digital Workplace transformation projects, including migrations, modernisation and technology deployments.
- Produces technical documentation including HLDs, LLDs, implementation plans and handover documentation, as well as supporting PoCs and pilots.
- Acts as a 3rd Line escalation point, resolving complex incidents, performing root-cause analysis and supporting Incident, Problem and Change Management.
- Drives automation and continuous improvement, particularly using PowerShell, while improving endpoint security, operational efficiency and the overall end-user experience.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Significant experience in a Senior Digital Workplace, Modern Workplace, End User Computing (EUC) or Endpoint Engineering role within a large enterprise environment.
- Extensive experience designing, implementing and supporting Microsoft Intune and Microsoft 365 solutions across enterprise-scale environments.
- Proven experience managing Windows 11 endpoints using Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience designing and implementing Conditional Access policies and modern identity and access management solutions.
- Experience delivering Digital Workplace transformation programmes, including migration from legacy endpoint management solutions to cloud-first technologies.
- Strong experience supporting enterprise endpoint security, device compliance and Zero Trust initiatives.
- Experience delivering infrastructure and Digital Workplace projects from technical design through implementation and operational handover.
- Experience producing High Level Designs (HLDs), Low Level Designs (LLDs), implementation plans and operational documentation.
- Experience providing 3rd Line technical support for complex endpoint, identity and Modern Workplace issues.
- Proven experience performing root cause analysis, troubleshooting and problem management within enterprise environments.
- Experience working closely with Architecture, Cyber Security, Infrastructure and Project teams to deliver business-critical technology initiatives.
- Strong experience with ITIL-based Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and acting as a technical subject matter expert.
- Experience working within highly regulated enterprise environments with a strong focus on security, governance and compliance.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across both technical and non-technical audiences.
